| Pat Ryan President |
Paint-outs are great ways to meet other artists and discover new sites for inspiration. The board chose a new site, interesting historic parks and old favorites for the 2008 schedule. Unless otherwise noted, we meet on the second Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. (new time) and paint until about 1:30 p.m. Bring your own art supplies, water, lunch, sunscreen and repellent, hat and walking shoes. We will meet near the restrooms off the parking area, except when indicated. If crowded, I’ll carry a red flag. For more information, call Carole 310-383-1374 or carolegarland@sbcglobal.net or Janet Devaney, 818-766-1248 or janoot@aol.com. FEBRUARY 9 - CHESEBRO CANYON (AKA CHEESEBORO), AgouraThe first signs of spring should greet us as the rolling hills begin to green. There are fine mountain vistas from the parking area, but if you take the trail and veer off at the first right (about 1/8 mile) you will descend into a pretty valley with an historic farm and outbuildings, wooden fencing, and stately Savannah Oaks. Take Ventura Freeway (101) to Chesebro Road Exit. Turn north on Palo Comado Canyon Rd., then right on Chesebro. Go north 1 mile to park entrance. Turn right and follow road to parking lot. Facilities. No fee.
MARCH 8 - POINT DUME HEADLANDS, 7200 Westward Beach Road, MalibuMasses of brilliant yellow giant coreopsis should be in full bloom this time of year. JUNE 14 - WILL ROGERS STATE HISTORIC PARK, 1501 Will Rogers State Park Rd., Pacific Palisades It’s been a long time since we’ve painted here and the recently completed renovation of the Will Rogers ranch house is more reason to revisit this historic locale: stables, eucalyptus lined roads, the ranch house, as well as views to the ocean from upper trails. POTLUCK. Bring a cooler with sandwiches, salads, veggies or a dessert to share with fellow artists. After a productive morning painting, we will eat, relax and get to know one another. From PCH, take Sunset Blvd. 5 miles inland to entrance sign on left side of the road. Fee. Facilities.
